Reputation vs reality

A company’s reputation needs to be compared to its underlying reality which determines its ability to deliver on the expectations created by its reputation. When reputation is greater than reality, then the company needs to improve its performance or lower its expectations. This is true for any business that aims to gain or maintain competitive advantage. When reality is greater than reputation, the company needs to do a better job of communicating effectively to all its stakeholders.
